In days gone by (and never now, oh no), men who had sexual attraction towards other men OR children (not the same people), were both seen as abberant and encouraged to join the priesthood and take their vow of celibacy to 'avoid temptation'. <br />Incidentally, little known bit of church trivia - did you know that celibacy for priests did not become church law until the early 1900s? And it's teaching, not doctrine, do can be changed at any time. As for celibacy being part of the apolistic tradition - bullshit.
